Ingredients:

1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 cups whole milk
1/4 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Whipped cream (optional) for topping
Butterscotch sauce (optional) for drizzling

Directions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together brown sugar and cornstarch.
  2. Slowly add the milk and heavy cream, whisking until smooth.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and starts to bubble, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract until fully combined.
