Ingredients
Scale
- 35–45 Saltine crackers
- 1 cup Unsalted butter
- 1 cup Brown sugar (packed)
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup Peanut butter (creamy or crunchy)
- 1 1/3 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2/3 cup Peanuts (optional topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (or 325°F for the peanut butter version).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
- Arrange the crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar, stirring constantly, until it bubbles.
- Pour the caramel mixture over the crackers, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- Bake for 6 to 8 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
- While the crackers bake, melt the chocolate (or peanut butter chips) in a microwave or double boiler, stirring until smooth.
- Once the crackers are done, spread the melted chocolate or peanut butter over them.
- Optionally, add toppings like chopped nuts or holiday sprinkles.
- Allow the candy to cool completely, either at room temperature or in the fridge, before breaking it into pieces.
Notes
- For a smoother chocolate finish, melt the chocolate with a tablespoon of unsalted butter.
Feel free to add a variety of toppings such as chopped nuts, coconut flakes, or mini chocolate chips for a personalized touch.
