  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 12-16 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3545 Saltine crackers
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup Peanut butter (creamy or crunchy)
  • 1 1/3 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2/3 cup Peanuts (optional topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (or 325°F for the peanut butter version).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  3. Arrange the crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar, stirring constantly, until it bubbles.
  5. Pour the caramel mixture over the crackers, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  6. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
  7. While the crackers bake, melt the chocolate (or peanut butter chips) in a microwave or double boiler, stirring until smooth.
  8. Once the crackers are done, spread the melted chocolate or peanut butter over them.
  9. Optionally, add toppings like chopped nuts or holiday sprinkles.
  10. Allow the candy to cool completely, either at room temperature or in the fridge, before breaking it into pieces.

Notes

  • For a smoother chocolate finish, melt the chocolate with a tablespoon of unsalted butter.

Feel free to add a variety of toppings such as chopped nuts, coconut flakes, or mini chocolate chips for a personalized touch.
